MISSISSAUGA, ONT., September 30, 2026 – For years, apprentices have balanced demanding work schedules, classroom learning, and personal commitments while building their careers in the skilled trades. Yet one significant challenge remains for many: preparing for the Certificate of Qualification and Red Seal examination.
To help apprentices succeed, Merit Ontario is offering specialized Exam Prep Courses for Carpentry, Plumbing, and Industrial Mechanical Millwright trades this fall.
Designed specifically for working apprentices, the online programs provide flexible access to instructor support, structured study plans, practice exams, and focused review of key trade competencies. The courses help participants identify knowledge gaps, strengthen exam readiness, and build confidence before test day.
“Many apprentices know the material because they work with it every day,” said Glenda Rahn, Director of Workforce Development with Merit Ontario.
“The challenge is often understanding how that knowledge is tested in a certification exam. This course helps bridge that gap.”
Achieving certification can lead to greater career opportunities, increased earning potential, and recognition as a highly qualified skilled trades professional. By providing targeted exam preparation, Merit Ontario is helping apprentices move from training to certification with confidence.
With online delivery and flexible enrollment periods, the courses are designed to fit around work schedules while providing the structure and support many apprentices need to stay on track.
