Ladders are a common but hazardous tool on construction sites, making proper training essential. This eLearning course equips you with the knowledge and skills to use ladders safely and effectively by teaching you how to recognize hazards, choose the right ladder, set it up securely, follow safe climbing practices, and maintain equipment properly, helping you reduce accidents, protect yourself and your team, and create a safer work environment. In addition, the course emphasizes compliance with Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), including the Construction Regulation (O. Reg. 213/91, s.78–86), which outlines specific legal responsibilities for safe ladder use. Learners will also be reminded that ladders may not always be the most appropriate work platform for prolonged tasks, and alternatives like scaffolds or raised platforms should be considered to meet both safety and regulatory requirements.
This course is designed for construction workers, tradespeople, supervisors, and anyone who uses ladders as part of their job. It is especially valuable for workers in Ontario who must comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and Construction Regulation (O. Reg. 213/91). Employers can also use this training to reinforce safe ladder practices and ensure compliance across their teams.
