This arc flash awareness training course provides workers with foundational awareness of arc flash hazards associated with electrical equipment and energized systems. Participants will learn what an arc flash is, why it occurs, and the serious consequences it can cause, including burns, blast pressure, and fire.
The course introduces basic electrical safety principles such as hazard identification, approach boundaries, warning labels, and the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE). It supports awareness of electrical safety requirements under Ontario legislation.
This is an awareness-level course only and does not authorize participants to perform energized electrical work or replace required technical training, lockout/tagout procedures, or competent person supervision.
This course is intended for construction and industrial workers, supervisors, forepersons, and site personnel who work on or near electrical equipment or may be exposed to arc flash hazards. It is especially relevant for non-electrical workers, new or young workers, and workers who do not perform electrical tasks but may be present in energized environments.
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
Self-directed online study with 24/7 access through an individual learner account on a user-friendly LMS.
